Survival: Change, or Perish

Thom Mayne owes his firm's success to integrated practice and BIM technology.  He explains how keeping up with BIM technology meant continual change in the office--"different staff, different skill sets...different services."  He claims that, if it wasn't for continual change, the office would not have survived.

I agree with Mayne that in order to survive in the architecture field, you will need to keep yourself informed (with the latest technology, current events and/or economic trends) in order to understand what your role needs to be at any moment in time.  If you do not educate yourself, how else will you know what types of work are more profitable or what tools are best for what projects or who are the best people to collaborate with?  Moreover, Mayne promotes revolutionary changes; or, taking risks in achieving new things or practicing new ideas. In short, this field requires us to actively seek out change / innovation or else we may perish.
